Team Notes:

Series tied 1-1. The teams met at UCM on Dec. 21, 1988 with Central winning 96-80, while Metro State won 78-68 in Denver on Dec. 9, 1991.

Metropolitan State, in the Elite Eight for the third consecutive year, won its quarterfinal game for the second straight time with a 106-87 win over Tuskegee Wednesday. Metro State's 106 points marked the first time in this year's NCAA Tournament that a team has scored 100 points in a contest ... Brandon Jefferson led the Roadrunners with 26 points in the victory, his 19th game this year with at least 20 points and third in four national tournament contests ... Metro State
went 27-0 against teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference this season (22-0 regular season, 3-0 in RMAC tournament, 2-0 in South Central Regional), is 4-1 in its five prior semifinal contests at the Elite Eight. The only loss, however, came in the only previous Elite Eight in which the Roadrunners entered as the nation's top-ranked team (2004, an 83-81 loss to Southern Indiana) ... The Roadrunners were the top-ranked team in the pre-season and after suffering their only loss of the year on Nov. 30 at Western Washington to fall out of the top spot, moved back to No. 1 and stayed there for the final six weeks of the season ... Brandon Jefferson, Metro State's leading scorer with an average of 21.5 points per game, is the leading scorer during the NCAA Tournament among the teams still playing as he has averaged 27.5 points in the first four contests. He is also the top active scorer in NCAA Division II among the players still in action with a career total of 1,914 points and also ranks fourth in free throw percentage at 91.9 percent; his 228 made free throws rank third nationally ... Only two teams in Division II have made more free throws than the 714 Metro State has connected on this season, including the 34 made in Wednesday's win ... The Roadrunners are also getting 16.1 points a game from Mitch McCarron and 15.8 from Nicholas Kay; McCarron and Kay were among four players in this year's Elite Eight named to the Capital One Academic All-America team (both second-team selections from the only school with two players named to the men's NCAA Division II squad) ... Metro State, who lost by a point to Drury in the national championship game, won its last national title in Evansville the last time the tournament was held there in 2002.

, the most by a UCM player in an NCAA Tournament game since Sanijay Watts scored 29 in the South Central Regional championship game against Midwestern State in 2010 ... The quarterfinal victory over SCSU marked the first time in this year's NCAA Tournament that the Mules had more assists (14) than turnovers (six) ... Central played in the only overtime game in the regional championship round, outlasting Northwest Missouri State 60-59 as Robinson made a free throw with two seconds left in the overtime period ... The Mules, ranked 20th in the final NABC/Division II rankings, shared the regular season title with Northwest in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and was the sixth MIAA title under head coach Kim Anderson. The six conference titles and 272 wins Anderson has accumulated at UCM are the most by any head coach in the history of the program ...
