Team Notes:

First meeting between the schools.

Chico State landed its first appearance in the Elite Eight by winning the West Regional championship game in dramatic fashion, ralling from a 13-point deficit with 2:48 to play against Cal State-Stanislaus; the Wildcats outscored CSU Stanislaus 20-6 over that span to win 81-80 ... Amir Carraway hit the second of two free throws with four seconds remaining to give the Wildcats the victory ... Carraway is one of five Wildcats averaging in double figures on the season, a group led by Rashad Parker with an average of 15.2 points a game ... Parker, with 65 three-point baskets and Giordano Estrada, who has made 76 long range shots, head a team that has made 259 three-pointers on the season at a rate of 36.7 percent ... Chico State is 26th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 66.6 points per contest ... The three wins in this year's NCAA Tournament are one more than Chico State had accumulated in its 10 prior appearances in the national tournament. One of the wins came in a third place game in 1958 over Linfield, the other two years ago in the opening round over Humboldt State ... The Wildcats, the fourth seed in the West Regional, picked up at least one victory this season over each of the three teams that were seeded ahead of them and also beat No. 5 seed California Baptist in the regional's opening round.

He is second in the country in three-pointers and his 333 career baskets from beyond the arc are the most of any player still active (Carson-Newman senior Ishmael Sanders finished with 340 treys) ... The Pacers also have a strong defensive presence in 6-10 Alvin Brown, the national leader in blocked shots with 135 and at least one in 23 consecutive games.
