NCAA Division II Upcoming Changes

California Collegiate Athletic Conference: Cal State-Monterey Bay is a probationary member of the conference in the 2005-06 season and will be eligible for conference titles beginning with the 2008-09 season. Cal State-Bakersfield is leaving the conference following the 2005-06 season to move to NCAA Division I in the 2007-08 season. Humboldt State will join the conference in the 2006-07 season.

Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference: New Jersey Institute of Technology has left the NCAA Division II ranks to move to Division I.

Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association: Winston-Salem State is leaving the conference after the 2005-06 season to move to the NCAA Division I level in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in 2006-07.

Great Northwest Athletic Conference: Humboldt State is leaving the conference following the 2005-06 season to join the California Collegiate Athletic Conference. Montana State-Billings will replace Humboldt State starting in the 2007-08 school year.

Gulf South Conference: Central Arkansas is leaving the conference to compete at the NCAA Division I level in the Southland Conference beginning in the 2006-07 season. Lincoln Memorial is leaving the league to become a member of the South Atlantic Conference beginning in the 2006-07 school year.

Heartland Conference: Western New Mexico departed from the conference at the conclusion of the 2005-06 season to become a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 2006-07. Newman, Texas A&M International, Texas-Permian Basin will join the conference as NCAA Division II provisional members in 2006-07. Montana State-Billings will leave the Heartland after the 2006-07 season to join the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association: Fort Hays State, formerly part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, will become a member of the MIAA in the 2006-07 school year.

North Central Conference: North Dakota will leave the conference after the 2006-07 season as it moves its athletic program to NCAA Division I status.

Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference: The University of Mary and Upper Iowa will become members of this conference beginning with the 2006-07 academic year. Upper Iowa has recently competed as an NCAA Division II independent; Mary is moving to Division II from the NAIA's Dakota Athletic Conference.

Pacific West Conference: Notre Dame de Namur, a member of the NAIA's California Pacific Conference, and Grand Canyon, who has played as an NCAA Division II independent, will join the conference in the 2006-07 season. NDNU will enter as a provisional member. Dixie State, who moved from the junior college ranks to a four-year institution in NCAA Division II in the summer of 2006, will become a member of this conference beginning with the 2007-08 season.

Peach Belt Athletic Conference: Georgia Southwestern will join the conference as a provisional member and will be eligible for championships beginning in the 2008-09 school year. South Carolina Upstate will leave the PBAC after the 2006-07 season to become a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference in NCAA Division I.

Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference: Fort Hays State will leave the RMAC at the conclusion of the 2005-06 school year to join the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Western New Mexico, who competed in the Heartland Conference in the 2005-06 school year, will replace Fort Hays State in the RMAC in the 2006-07 academic year.

South Atlantic Conference: Lincoln Memorial, formerly a member of the Gulf South Conference, will join the SAC starting in the 2006-07 academic year. Presbyterian will leave the league after the 2006-07 season to join the NCAA Division II Big South Conference.

West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference: Pittsburgh-Johnstown and Seton Hill will join the conference in the 2006-07 season and will be eligible for league championships beginning with the 2007-08 school year. West Virginia Tech is leaving the conference as it moves its athletic affiliation to the NAIA.

Independents: Upper Iowa will leave the ranks of the independents to join the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in the 2006-07 school year. Pittsburgh-Johnstown will also leave the independent ranks in 2006-07 to join the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Grand Canyon is joining the Pacific West Conference stating in 2006-07. Florida Gulf Coast will leave the NCAA Division II ranks after this season to become a member of the NCAA Division I Atlantic Sun Conference.
