ROLLA, Mo. -- The Lady Miners suffered a heart-breaking loss Saturday night as Central Missouri State's Teleshia Joseph broke a scoreless tie with 4:35 to play, giving the Jennies a 1-0 win at the UMR Soccer Complex.

Joseph got control of a bouncing ball in front of the UMR net and pushed a shot past Lady Miner goalkeeper Ana Mora for the only goal of the contest. Mora, who played well in goal, kept UMR in the game by making 13 saves.

CMSU outshot the Lady Miners 28-7 in the game and had a number of good scoring chances. However, Mora and the UMR defense was able to keep the Jennies at bay until the goal. It was the first goal scored by CMSU against the Lady Miners this season, as UMR shut out the Jennies 1-0 last month in Warrensburg.

The loss extended the Lady Miners' winless streak to four games (0-3-1) and they fell four points behind Central in the MIAA standings. The Lady Miners are 3-4-2 (11 points in the MIAA) and 4-7-3 overall.

CMSU improved to 10-6 overall and 5-3 in the MIAA (15 points).

UMR will host Northeastern State at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the UMR Soccer Complex.
