ROLLA, Mo. -- Libby Stephenson was in the right place at the right time for the Lady Miners Wednesday evening.

Stephenson scored twice in a span of 2:10 in the first half to give UMR an advantage it would never relinquish as it beat Southwest Baptist 3-0 at the UMR Soccer Complex.

Stephenson's first goal came at the 16:28 mark, as she took Kacey Morris' pass on the wing about 15 yards from the goal and broke a scoreless tie. Just moments later, she got her second tally by converting a crossing pass in front of the net from Tara Hammond.

Hammond would also have a hand in UMR's third goal, as her corner kick was headed in by Maureen Cassin with 3:34 to play in the game.

The shots were even at 17 apiece, but Ana Mora made five saves in goal for UMR (4-4-2, 3-1-1 MIAA) and was also the beneficiary of a shot that hit the crossbar in the latter stages of the second half. The shutout was the fourth of the season for Mora. Southwest Baptist fell to 6-6 overall and 0-6 in the MIAA with its sixth consecutive loss.

The Lady Miners, who moved into sole possession of third place in the MIAA with the win, will continue conference play Saturday when they face league co-leader Truman in Kirksville, Mo. Game time will be 2 p.m.
