ROLLA, Mo. -- Sunday's game between the University of Missouri-Rolla and Northwest Missouri State ended exactly as it started -- without a goal on the scoreboard.

The Lady Miners and Bearcats played to a scoreless tie after two overtime periods at the UMR Soccer Complex Sunday. UMR outshot Northwest 23-17 in the game, but was unable to get a shot past Bearcat goalie Kathie Leach.

Northwest had the better of the play in the first half, but UMR picked up the pace after the intermission and had two good scoring opportunities. Kacey Morris hit the goalpost about midway through the second half, then had a open shot that was stopped by Leach about two minutes later.

UMR also had a good scoring chance in the first overtime period when the ball came loose in front of the net after a corner kick, but wasn't able to convert that. Northwest (2-4-1, 1-2-1 MIAA) had a good chance of its own just moments after that, but Lady Miner goalie Ana Mora stopped Jill Anderson's chance. Mora also made a good stop on a free kick by Northwest's Renee Judd late in the second overtime.

Mora made six saves for the Lady Miners in recording her second shutout of the season and eighth of her career.

UMR (2-1-1, 1-0-1 MIAA) will play at William Woods Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Fulton, Mo.
