MANKATO, Minn. -- Nothing like waiting until the last possible moment.

Just seconds away from seeing their game with St. Cloud State end in a tie, Tara Hammond sent a crossing pass into the box, where Maureen Cassin was waiting and knocked in the game-winner for the Lady Miners, giving them a 2-1 overtime victory with only 15 remaining in the second overtime period.

Cassin's goal completed a rally for UMR and allowed the team to split its two games on the weekend trek to Minnesota. The Lady Miners had lost a 3-0 decision to Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday.

St. Cloud State (2-5) got on the board first on Kayla Berry's goal at the 31:07 mark of the first half. UMR tied the score when Kacey Morris took a pass from Hammond and hit a one-touch shot by Huskie goalkeeper Laura Kenady at 78:51.

The score remained tied until Cassin's goal at 119:45.

UMR posted the victory despite being outshot 26-14. Lady Miner goalie Ana Mora was credited with nine saves.

UMR will return to action next Sunday when it hosts Northwest Missouri State in an MIAA contest at 1 p.m. at the UMR Soccer Complex.
