ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri-Rolla won Diana Niland's debut as the team's head coach Saturday by posting a 2-0 shutout over Emporia State in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association contest.

The Lady Miners jumped on top just 8:26 into the game as Katie Beissel scored on a bad angle shot from the left wing. The score remained that way until early in the second half, when Kacey Morris took a feed from Beth Hayward and put a shot into an open net at the 57:19 mark.

Ana Mora made five saves for the Lady Miners to earn the shutout. Emporia State, who beat Ottawa in the program's debut Thursday, lost for the first time. The Lady Miners outshot the Lady Hornets 17-9.

UMR (1-0) will play at Minnesota State-Mankato next Saturday in the first of two games in Mankato, Minn., next weekend. The Lady Miners will face St. Cloud State in their second game Sunday.
