Missouri-Rolla Men's Soccer
Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- For some reason, the UMR men's soccer team has had a hard time scoring against Midwestern State -- and Sunday was no exception.

The Miners were handed their third shutout loss in as many years by the Indians Sunday, losing a 2-0 decision to fall to 6-4-1 on the year.

UMR was outshot 16-6 in the first half and 24-14 in the game as they saw a three-game winning streak come to an end. Midwestern State improved to 4-4-2 with the win.

The Indians jumped on top at the 18:11 mark when Andy Valenson took the ball down the right side and got a shot past Miner goalkeeper Todd Wilfling.

Midwestern State held that lead to the intermission, then added to the lead early in the second half. Josh Hill took a crossing pass from David Crockett and beat Wilfling with a shot for the final goal of the contest.

Wilfling was credited with eight saves for the Miners, who return to action Wednesday at Lincoln. Game will be 4 p.m. in Jefferson City, Mo.
