Missouri-Rolla Men's Soccer

ROLLA, Mo. -- For the first time ever, the University of Missouri-Rolla men's soccer team came away from a game against Rockhurst with a victory.

The Miners scored a goal early and made it hold up, coming away with a 2-0 victory on Homecoming weekend at the UMR Soccer Complex.

UMR jumped out on top 11:33 into play when Sean Ackley completed a well-executed play with a goal. Chris Shaw made a feed to Adam Dancler on the right wing, then Dancler sent a pass in front that Ackley finished off.

The Miner defense took over from that point, keeping Rockhurst off the scoreboard and holding the Hawks to just nine shots for the game.

A late opportunity for the Hawks to tie the game eventually led to the Miners' second goal. With under a minute to play, Rockhurst (5-6-1) had a corner kick attempt, but UMR stopped that try and Aaron Ogorzalek's clearing pass turned into a breakaway for Luke Enna -- who converted it into a goal with 51 seconds to go.

Todd Wilfling made two saves in goal for the Miners and recorded his third shutout in four games. He has not allowed a goal in regulation time in those four games and just one goal in the last 421:54 of play.

UMR (4-3-1) will host Southwest Baptist Wednesday at 7 p.m.
