Dierking, Kueny selected to academic all-district team
Nicole Dierking and Becca Kueny, senior members of the University of Missouri-Rolla women's basketball team, have been selected to the District VII academic all-district team for the 2006-07 season.
Dierking was named to the second team in a season in which she ranks as UMR's second-leading scorer with an average of 12.8 points and is the team's top rebounder with seven per game, which ranks sixth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
During the 2006-07 season, she became the 12th player in school history to surpass the 1,000-point mark and currently ranks seventh on the all-time scoring list at UMR with 1,108 points after scoring a game-high 24 points Tuesday in the Lady Miners' win at Missouri-St. Louis.
Dierking is majoring in biology at UMR and has been on UMR's Honor Roll throughout her time at the university.
Kueny was selected to the third team for the second straight season and is averaging 2.5 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in a reserve role. She has been a part-time starter in all four seasons in which she has played in the Lady Miner program.
She has led the Lady Miners in rebounding three times this season with a high of 10 in a win over Wisconsin-Parkside.
Kueny is a ceramic engineering major at UMR and last spring was named as the GLVC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women's track and field after she won the conference title in the javelin throw.
