The Center for Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies (CAMT) at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) has been moving technology closer to production floor fabrication and assembly. The interdisciplinary teams, along with advanced equipment and facilities, have created a substantial technology force at Missouri S&T. Realizing the value and importance of CAMT to the entire U.S. aerospace industry, a CAMT Industrial Consortium has been established. Through this, CAMT benefits all consortium members, and its R&D activities are directed by the consortium members.
CAMT has demonstrated the
great value of industry-university cooperative research partnership,
where the industry role is to identify technology needs, provide
practical knowledge and data, perform technology benefits analysis,
and lead insertion of technologies into industrial manufacturing
systems while the role of Missouri S&T is to perform R&D on development
and optimization of technologies, demonstrate and evaluate developed
technologies with industry participation, transfer the technologies
to industry, and incorporate the R&D results into education
and training of the future workforce.
