Ranger
Challenge
Ranger Challenge is ROTC's "varsity sport." It is a team
competition that is both physically and mentally challenging. The
teams consists of 9 people plus one alternate and competes against
22 other universities from Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Oklahoma,
and Tennessee. The competition itself lasts for three days and consists
of 7 events. The events include the Army Physical Fitness Test,
One Rope Bridge, Land Navigation (written and practical), Grenade
Assault Course, Patrolling, M16 assembly/disassembly, and a 10 kilometer
forced march in full gear. All team members conduct extra physical
training in preparation for the competition. They also learn additional
military skills that are used during the competition.
